Stuff to get rid of

Why am I getting rid of all this? all details here

IN SHORT:

I will be adding here a lot more gadgets, big and small, most of them almost new or used once or twice. Everything else, including furniture, house appliances, business clothes and even a sailboat (with mooring) will have to go away before November and will be listed here too, so please subscribe by RSS or EMAIL  if you want to get updated when there’s new stuff here.
All my belongings and office will need to fit on a travel case. As simple as that.

Plans changed and this is starting even earlier (YEAH!), so, everything was sold and donated already!

Well, EXCEPT for my Sailboat and a Dishwasher :) (details below).
If you are around Geneva and are interested in any of those, just contact me as I left someone taking care of the case.

TRIDENT 80 SAILBOAT 8,62m  (WITH MOORING IN EVIAN)
15,000 CHF ~13,695 EUR

UPDATE: I will put the price back to 20,000 CHF ~18,260 EUR soon, sometime in November, as the purpose of this drop was to sell it and take care of paperwork while I still in Europe.

From 1978. Hull and sails in great conditions, extra sails and spinnaker, main sail furler (you’ll be ready to go, even alone,  in 1 minute with no fuss). Very well maintained by the previous owner. Well maintained by myself and of course, tons of navigation and instruments gadgets added last year (more than 7,000 CHF) and full electrical (12 and 220V) wiring redone. 5 sleeping places (with all Ikea bedsheets and duvets and covers), full kitchen and accessories, fridge, new water reservoir and pump toilet replaced with electric one. Short video HERE but more media will be added soon. ONE VERY IMPORTANT THING: Needs new engine. Engine is quite old and needs replacement. Any “chantier naval” will offer to fix it (again) but I recommend investing in a new one, so prepare around almost 9000 CHF for motor and installation work (shop around, probably less). I’ll miss “Don Quichotte” (that’s the name of the boat). The mooring place in one of the most recent ports of Lac Léman (Evian) is a huge thing, unless you like to wait into 10+ years waiting lists. BONUS: DVD and Digital TV tuner, weather station and all kind of gadgetry as well as safety equipment. The original owner left me 7 (or more) life-savers. You’ll also inherit the 3 tons of sailing magazines and all the alcoholic drink bottles in the bar. There’s also an electric water boiler, IKEA utensils, plates, pans and whatsoever. GOODBYE “STUFF”,
HELLO WORLD!

(Wow, first time I write this last line without any computer programming purpose!)

Everything else was already SOLD! Thanks everyone who contributed toward myself back to a SIMPLE life :)

TOYOTA PRIUS GONE!
14,000 CHF ~11,526 EUR

5 year old, 114000 Km with all the gadget equipment options like navigation, voice recognition and automatic parking (no hands!) BONUS: Winter tire set (only used last season), emergency kit (jump-starter + air compressor)

HP PHOTOSMART PREMIUM C309A WIRELESS PRINTER GONE!
150 CHF ~123 EUR

I get pissed when I have clients that do not use email, but this was bought because of those who still use FAXes! Well, this great printer does everything (except coffee, for that check the next item). Great (multi-doc) scanner, photo quality AND no cables wifi and bluetooth printing, you can even print stuff from your iPad and iPod. It even prints on CDs and DVDs! Check all specs here. BONUS: recently changed normal cartridges (not the almost empty original ones), including a XXL black one. Piles of extra paper, premium photo paper, sticker paper, postcard paper, and assorted kinds of paper.

BOSCH Compact Dish Washer GONE!
200 CHF ~177 EUR

The machine is working fine (of course) and is excellent if you don’t really have time, patience (or both) to do your dishes. As a compact model fits everywhere (it was on top of my washing/drying machine), and if you don’t have proper plumbing in place you can just use the tap or/and sink.

NINTENDO DS PATCHED + HUNDREDS OF GAMES GONE!
175 CHF ~144 EUR

Runs game backups from included SD card adapter game cartridge (included with a ton of games and you can transfer more from your computer). Another of my tech experiments.

A TON OF BUSINESS SUITS + SHIRTS + COATS GONE!
500 CHF ~412 EUR

Size M (I am 1,78m/fit). Size for the Shirts is M/M  39-40 EU / 153-154 US and for the Suits 148 EUR / 33L US. These were from my almost 3 years working in the finance field. Most were only used once or twice. Apparently some people were convinced (on my last months before resigning) that wearing a suit improves the productivity of a software developer by 32% (I came up with that value). This is ideal for someone who just moved in a business/finance job and will need to drop a pile of money in this like I had to. I don’t use any as I left that company and am a Freelancer for a while, but they are taking over one ful wardrobe. So, the list: 20 long sleeve dressing shirts + 7 complete suits (3 from H&M, 1 Tommy Hilfiger, 3 custom tailored in China on my last trip) + one heavy cashmere wool long coat + 2 belts + some ties (argh). Colors mostly around gray, brown and black, shirts with some white and blue too. Cashmere coat is dark grey. BONUS: I throw in a long dark-brown leather coat. Ideal for flashers using over the suits. And I also throw in a black trench-coat.
UPDATE: You save a lot if you get the full pack, but in separate I can sell suits for 80 each, coats for 100 each also, except for the cashmere heavy one (130) and 10 CHF for each shirt. This is only until next Sunday (July 3rd). Then I will do another price for what remains as a pack.

NESPRESSO LATTISSIMA GONE
!
300 CHF ~246 EUR

For all Starbucks and similar addicted: Latte, Machiatto, Caramel machiatto, just a normal espresso, whatever… this is THE coffee machine! Which I bought almost 2 years ago exactly months before I decided to stop drinking coffee. So, it has been used for guests only. In perfect condition, obviously. As a bonus, you’ll get a few more tall cups and accessories, as well as the remaining stock of Nespresso capsules, from last guests (I ordered way too many capsules). Details on this machine here and a short video here.

DD-506 E-DRUM SET + KORG KAOSSILATOR + MIDI KBD GONE!
600 CHF ~493 EUR

The drum set is brand new, just bought it in the Köln music store a couple of months ago. It’s a complete set with drum computer (with midi in/out), seat, 2 pairs of drum-sticks and headphones (so your neighbors don’t kill you at 2am, which seems to be my favorite time for this). Check all details on these e-drums and this video. For the Kaossilator (the yellow gadget in the photo), I’ll let you look here and watch this video. No more explanations needed. And the Midi keyboard is just a normal one, with the usual sliders and knobs. (4 of the knob covers were eaten by my cat, but they work fine, just have a different color). I will miss all these gadgets for sure but my neighbors will be happy that they go away.

HACKINTOSHED NETBOOK ACER ASPIRE ONE A150X GONE!
350 CHF ~288 EUR

So, I customized this guy to use on my trip to China 2 years ago, and was editing videos on Adobe Premiere, using Photoshop and everything on its Mac OSX Leopard partition. It also has a Windows XP SP3 partition, in case you need it. Works great for everything, internet stuff (wifi or cabled), great for video, whatever. Here’s the post about how I’ve done it. Check the tech specs here. There’s your Mac netbook for 350 bucks! BONUS: 7 hour battery (apart from the default 3 hours one) and multi-laptop power supply.

NINTENDO Wii PATCHED + TONS OF GAMES + ACCESSORIES* GONE!
350 CHF ~280 EUR

* Insane pack: Wii Fit + full set of 4 Wiimotes and Nunchucks + extra wireless Nunchuck + 2 Motion Plus + charger for simultaneous 4 Wiimotes (plugs to the wii USB, very practical) + Dozens of original games. BONUS: The console is patched, meaning you can run game backups, dozens included. I can email the (huge) collection list of original + copies + copies bought in China.

iMAC 20.1″ + WIRELESS KBD & MAGIC MOUSE GONE!
700 CHF ~576 EUR

2 years old, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / 2 GB RAM iMAC. Original wired keyboard + Remote BONUS: Wireless Apple keyboard + Apple Magic Mouse ANOTHER BONUS: My huge collection of almost 200 DVDs!

BENQ 23″ MONITOR GONE!
100 CHF ~82 EUR

1920 x 1080 resolution, all kinds of connections. More details here. BONUS: I will throw in a pile of cables and adaptors.

IRISCAN EXPRESS 2 PORTABLE SCANNER GONE!
80 CHF ~65 EUR

A4/Letter, automatic feeder scanner. Fast, tiny and light USB scanner. Great for photo, busiiness cards, document and receipt scanning (I bought it for testing purposes for my own automated invoicing / receipt software). More details here.

  2. Hi I am a struggling freelance webdesigner with far to many children and I am thinking about whether I can justify buying your iMac to her in doors.

Meanwhile I am always on the look out for books that will improve my knowledge of webdesign, programming and new media (I do know quite a bit after 14 years but there’s always more to learn)

After applying what seems like 1000′s of jobs here in Switzerland I am biting the bullet and going back to freelance work again. (7 years freelance in Spain)

Obviously I am out to make money (not for me but rather for the kids… and her in doors… and the dog) So cutting costs at the moment is vital. So anything such as books that you wish to get rid of would be highly appreciated, as expected equipment and software cost for this year are currently at about 9000chf and currently I have about 2000chf of work on the table.

My new professional website is coming soon, I am currently putting both the site and the team together.

    Thanks,

    Chris Pettipiere

    Hi!
First of all, I’d like to congratulate you on your initative of setting up a blog to get rid of your stuff – must not be easy saying goodbye to all of it.
Anyway, I’d be very interested both in the Nintendo DS and in the Wii with accessories. Could we set something up here?
    Thanks – and good luck!

  4. Hi we are interested in your WII as we have two adorable ever growing little ones would you accept an offer of 100 for the Wii thanks
    Melle

  5. Fernando Colaco |

Hi Melle. I can’t really make that. Only the new accessories are worth more than the triple of your offer, not counting original games or the console and the balance board :(
