Sailing season… is over… for me… :(

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

OK this was actually 3 weeks ago, but I’ve been quite static regarding blogging, specially since I use Twitter.

So, the Yannmar engine in Don Quichotte (my sailboat) decided to die. Quite normal actually, since the engine is as old as myself (31 years OLD). After asking for experts opinion, it’s actually cheaper to install a new one than fixing and getting parts for this one, so that’s what I will do by the end of the year.

The engine had some random weird episodes since I own the boat (over 2 years by now) and this was quite expected and I was aware it could happen at the moment I bought it, so it was not a huge surprise. Since I don’t feel comfortable enough yet to get out and back to the dock on sail and without using the motor, the boat will be docked until next season, keeping its winter duty as my recurrent Raclette and Fondue party place in Evian :)
